Terminal Operator requires that not less than 2 tugs assist each Ship berthing or unberthing at any of the Terminalâs docks. Terminal Operator retains the right, at its sole discretion, to require additional tugs for either berthing or unberthing of any Vessel if weather conditions are considered marginal by the pilot, if the Vessel exhibits poor manoeuvring characteristics, and/or if the pilot and/or Pilot Authority determine(s) additional tugs are needed for any other reason. About Beaumont
updated Sep 2025Where it is
Beaumont is situated on the Neches River 70km inland from the Gulf of Mexico. Entry to the river is via the Sabine Pass.
The port
The Port of Beaumont, located in Texas, has a rich history that dates back to 1916 when a nine-foot canal was excavated into the Neches River, initially designed to facilitate the transportation of timber and cotton. This crucial development, part of the Sabine-Neches Waterway, laid the foundation for what would evolve into a vital hub for maritime trade.
In 1946, the Port of Beaumont Navigation District was established, marking a significant milestone in the port's development. Over the decades, the port has transformed into one of the busiest deep-water ports in the United States, a testament to its strategic location and operational capabilities. It is accessible via the Federally maintained Sabine-Neches Ship Channel, which supports the seamless movement of goods to and from the port.
The Port of Beaumont specialises in a diverse range of cargo types, including breakbulk, liquid bulk, dry bulk, heavy lift, roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro), naval and project cargoes. This versatility makes it a critical player in the supply chain for various industries, enabling the efficient handling of goods ranging from agricultural products to heavy machinery.
Traffic
Approx. 74,300,000t of cargo, 300TEU and 9,600 vessels handled annually.
