Approach

updated May 2010

Approach

Approach to Bayovar: SW in the approach channel, passing NW of 3 lightbuoys which are moored on the 18.0m depth contour.

The final phase of this approach is on the alignment (235°) of Bayovar Leading Lights (white diamond, orange centre, on orange towers 20 and 6m height) (05°48'S 081°03'W).

From this leading line, a turn to NW is made to go alongside the wharf.

Vessels usually berth port side to, heading 322°, with the starboard anchor down. This avoids difficulty turning on departure.

Care is necessary to prevent a strong current setting the stern on to the wharf.

Traffic schemes and VTS

Every ship approaching a Peruvian port must inform the Control Centre (TRAMAR) of that port, her movements for entering port, anchorage or berth, or outgoing from them, should in any case follow the instructions given by TRAMAR.
