Anchorages

Designated anchorage: Approx 3.5nm NW of the northern SBM.

SBM anchorage: Approx 1.5-4.0nm W of the SBM, In depths of 40m.

Prohibited anchorage: Anchoring is prohibited SE of the SBM between the boundary of the restricted area and these pipelines.

Restrictions

Submarine pipelines are laid between the SBM and the coast 2.25nm E of the SBM.

Tugs

Two tugs secured to the vessel for berthing operations. One at the aft centre lead and the other on the starboard shoulder. The aft tug remains secured throughout loading, the shoulder tug is cast off after the vessel is secured to the SBM.

Mooring

SBM Mooring connections: A pilot will board the vessel for berthing. The length of the SBM pick up rope is 50m and OCIMF recommends 150m. The rope is connected to the chafe chain using an extended pin type 'D' shackle with double nut securing (instead of a flush 'D' shackle). The pin of the shackle leads towards the pick up rope fouling against the lip of the vessels centre lead causing slight delay in securing the vessel.

Hose connection: 2 x 16in hoses are connected on the port side for loading. A team of 8 -10 shore hose handlers board the vessel with the assistance of the ship's hose handling crane. Auto samplers are fitted to the ship's manifold prior to connection.
