About Argostoli

updated Feb 2015

Where it is

Argostoli is situated on the SW shore of Ormos Argostoliou.

The port

It has two harbours, at opposite sides of a bay, Lixouri to the W and Argostoli to the E, connected by ferry. Together they constitute a single port. Good holding ground in deep water but operations may cease in Lixouri during S and E gales. Minimal warehousing; vessels usually load part cargo at Argostoli before filling at Lixouri, but those discharging may require lighterage.

Argostoli is a small commercial harbour with facilities for handling bulk and liquid cargoes.
