This channel is the preferred approach during difficult weather conditions.

Anchorage is available anywhere in the harbour outside the main channel, clear of submarine pipelines and cables. The holding ground is good, on clay and mud, and rings are available on the shore for stern mooring.
Buoya (58°30.6'N 008°53.8'E) affords anchorage in a bay off its E side, in a depth of 34m with good holding on clay. The swinging room is limited by a shoal, Stolene and a submarine pipeline laid across the fjord close NE, and vessels may need to be moored. This anchorage is used for vessels waiting to berth at Eydehavn (58°29.8'N 008°52.7'W).

Tugs
Available on request. There is 1 tug available and it is usual to use ship's lines.
Mooring
The port authority can decide where and in what way a vessel can moor at the municipality's facilities. Mooring must not take place in a load bearing structural part for a quay, building or other device. The port administration may impose the use of mooring assistance on call to municipal facilities.
The port authority may decide that a vessel is to be moved or removed, if consideration of the traffic conditions or port operation make this necessary or there is a risk of injury. Vessels with a maximum length of more than 20 meters shall always have available, sufficient crew to be able to perform the port administration's order after the first paragraph unless the port authority decides otherwise. The port administration may decide that this should also apply to smaller vessels.
Vessel must not stay at the dock, use propeller, including side propeller, before the vessels is going. During manoeuvring to or from the dock, caution must be exercised so that the propeller water does not cause damage to other vessels or port facilities. The same applies to other types of propulsion and manoeuvres. Auxiliary machinery that interferes with working conditions and surroundings, the port administration may impose the stop. During stay at the dock, use of propulsion machinery which interferes with the environment is prohibited.
During a jetty stay, vessels shall properly erect outlet openings facing the dock or against other vessels to the extent necessary for spillage, steam or electricity to not be at risk.
