A 1.6nm wide channel runs between Kuruki reef and Banau reef and between Takanupei Island and Karikiberia Shoal. The depth in this channel is in excess of 180m. After crossing the 180m line, depths exceed 35m until adjacent to the wharf. The only hazard near the approach is Bara shoal, 1.6km S of Taknupei Island.
Anchorages
Vessels awaiting an alongside berth can obtain anchorage 1nm NE of Dokome Point, in a depth of 55m.
Tugs
Two tugs, 335bhp and 1,600bhp available throughout 24 hours a day. Vessels with LOA over 200m require a 2nd tug.
